LRLR 2025 Route Overview

LRLR 2025 Route Summary:

6/14/2025 – Meet Up: Today is a day of anticipation. The air is thick with excitement as all the Long Reach Long Riders converge on the outskirts of Salt Lake City. Hands are extended to begin new friendships while old friends reconnect as if no time has passed. The exact meet up point will be confirmed closer to the ride date, but it will be within 50 miles of Salt Lake City. Plan to be onsite no later than 5pm local time for a pre-ride safety meeting.

6/15/2025 – (Est. 238 miles) Idaho Bound: Day 1 will begin with a climb into the Utah mountains along state route UT-39 towards Woodruff. We will take a leisurely pace as we relearn to ride as a group. From Woodruff, we’ll head north via US-30. We will dip into Wyoming ever so briefly for a stop in Cokeville before crossing into Idaho as we follow part of the historic Oregon Trail to Pocatello. Please refrain from fording rivers, breaking axles, or dying of dysentery.

6/16/2025 – (Est. 200 miles) Craters of the Moon: Day 2 is an out and back trip to explore Craters of the Moon National Monument, so no need to repack the bike. This national monument will be our first National Park Service (NPS) location for the week. The park is “a vast ocean of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones and sagebrush” located 170 miles east of Boise.

Calvin Coolidge proclaimed this area a National Monument May 2nd, 1924 and described it as “a weird and scenic landscape peculiar to itself.” Be sure to bring your walking shoes and a National Parks pass if you have one. Here you will be let loose to explore the park at your leisure for a few hours. There are lava fields, spatter cones, caves, and plenty of nature to see along an abundance of short hiking trails.

6/17/2025 – (Est. 320 miles) Grand Teton: Day 3 is another out and back trip. This will be the longest day of the week. In order to take in the views at Grand Teton National Park, we will be leaving early and returning late, so take it easy and get some rest in the evening on Day 2. Kickstands up will come early, but the views should be worth it.

6/18/2025 – (Est. 185 miles) Pocatello to Logan: Day 4 is a transition day to Logan, UT. After a long day at Grand Teton, there will be time to pack up in the morning as we begin with a late kickstands up before heading south along beautiful and scenic ID-34 and ID-36 to the town of Liberty, Idaho. From Liberty, we’ll follow the banks of Bear Lake (known for azure blue water) as we cross back into Utah, then follow the wonderfully twisty US-89 to our home for the night in the town of Logan.

Considered one of the safest metro areas in the west, Logan Utah is a college town, home to Utah State University. It is known for beautiful landscapes year round. Referred to by some as Utah’s Greenland, the location has an ample water supply that feeds into Bear Lake.

6/19/2025 – (Est. 265 miles) Flaming Gorge: Day 5 is another transition day that takes us from Logan to Vernal, UT by way of Flaming Gorge. We’ll cut the corner of Wyoming through Evanston and Lonetree as we weave ever closer to the Green River. After enjoying some twisties along the gorge rim, we will stop at the Flaming Gorge Dam visitors center. Here we will do our best to make as many dam jokes as possible while letting our resident photographers run wild. After the obligatory group photo, it’ll be off to the town of Vernal for the next two nights.

6/20/2025 – (Est. 80 miles) Prehistoric fun: Day 6 is an out and back trip all about Dinosaurs. First we’ll ride into Dinosaur National Monument. We’ll tour the Quarry exhibit to see real dinosaur bones where they were discovered. Then we’ll take a loop through the park and look for some petroglyphs. Fair warning, part of the road beyond the visitors center is dirt. After spending ample time exploring the park, we will head southeast with our target fixed on the intersection of Brontosaurus Blvd and Stegosaurus Fwy. There we will find the town of Dinosaur, Colorado. Be on the lookout for local law enforcement as their vehicles are creatively themed. In town you’ll be greeted by such sites as Dinosaur town hall, the Pickle Stop, and shops in which to buy Dino treats.

6/21/2025 – (Est. 195 miles) Last Hurrah: Day 7 is our final day of riding and a wrap up for LRLR 2025. We’ll leave Vernal, UT and gradually head North West along UT-35 back toward Salt Lake City. We’ll pass farmland and forested mountains as we prepare ourselves to say goodbye before returning to normal life. We’ll wax poetic about the journey and joke about the unforeseen things we encountered along the way.
