If you like the Blue Ridge Mountains and all they have to offer in early summer, you’ll want to mark your calendars and join us for a few days or the entire week of June 17th – 24th 2022.
Of course we’ll ride all the highlight roads, such as The Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, The Diamondback, The Snake and a few other colorfully named bodacious gatherings of scenery and curvy pavement ribbons. There’s also a strong possibility of scenic waterfalls and some historic parks thrown in for good measure.
A nice bonus for 2022 is that we’ll stay in out-of-the-way and historic inns when possible. There’s even a possibility of a ghost hunt in one particular 1800’s era inn.
Gathering Day (Day 0) – Charlotte NC Friday June 17th – please plan to be on site and checked in by 4 pm so that we can all gather for a meeting/greeting at 5, followed by a group dinner.
June 18th – Day 1 Charlotte to Blowing Rock NC – King’s Mountain Battlefield National Park, Diamondback (Hwy 226/226A outside of Marion), Little Switzerland, Blue Ridge Parkway to Linville, Hwy 221 past Grandfather Mountain State Park and up in to Blowing Rock. Stay at historic Green Park Inn for 2 nights. Possibility of adding in Linville Falls and/or Grandfather Mountain Park with the Mile High Swinging Bridge (foot traffic only, unfortunately!).
June 19th – Day 2 Highlights – backroads into Triplett NC, up to Laurel Springs, on to Mouth of Wilson, VA. Grayson Highlands State Park for photo ops, Hwy 58 on into Damascus, over to Shady Valley and The Snake, Hwy 321 around Watauga Lake, Valley Mountain Road from Valle Crucis to Banner Elk, 105 and Shull’s Mill road back to Blowing Rock.
June 20th – Day 3 Highlights – lots of curves for riders of all skill levels – Brown Mountain road, Hwy 25 to Hot Springs down to Cashiers/Highlands. Although it’s over 6 hours of saddle time, there’s a lot of easy sweepers also and some highway, even a touch of I-40 to stretch your legs after the curves.
June 21st – Day 4 – Highlands/Cashiers out to Tellico Plains TN and back in a big ol’ Figure 8. There will be options for riders who don’t necessarily want to ride the Tail of the Dragon.
June 22nd – Day 5 – Cashiers/Highlands to Brevard, Waynesville, Wolf Mountain, down past Tallulah Falls and on to Dahlonega. Question of the day will be “Hwy 276 or Hwy 215 around the loop”??? So many great roads through here. Although this day will be 233 miles, the 2nd half of the day will be a breeze on Hwy 23 headed south. There’ll be a bonus feature, goats on the roof near NC/GA line.
June 23rd – Day 6 – Dahlonega loop, back to Dahlonega for the evening – Helen GA, Brasstown Bald, Blairsville, Murphy NC for a stop at The Cannon Club to say hello and get a photo.
June 24th – Day 7 – Dahlonega back to Charlotte by way of Walhalla SC and Chimney Rock/Lake Lure NC.
Saturday June 25th – Disperse and start raising money for the 20th Anniversary Ride!
We hope you’ll consider joining us!
