2022's theme is "Blue Ridge Ramble" and that's what we will be doing - ramblin' along, around and over the blue ridge mountains, hitting some of the best riding roads the southeast US has to offer.

All riders will need to have the following:

  • A motorcycle with a range of about 150 miles between gas stops
  • A valid driver's license with the appropriate motorcycle endorsement, where applicable
  • Proof of insurance for yourself and the bike that you are riding. For example, if you are borrowing your brothers' sisters' uncles' bike, the insurance coverage has to include you when you are driving it.

Ride Fees:

The per bike (or chase vehicle) fee for 2022 is $1000 for participating in the full ride.

If you can only ride a part of the ride, there is a "day tripper" rate of $111.11 per day.

A minimum of $150.00 registration fee is required once you are cleared to join.

Of course all fees are minimum requirements and we urge you to reach out to family, friends, colleagues, ex-spouses, whoever to help us raise as much money as possible for our charities.

Here's what to expect:

  • We will gather in Charlotte NC June 17th, 2022. Please plan to arrive early enough (by 4 pm) to join the "gathering night" meal and meeting.
  • 2022 Ride Marshals Greg Williams & Alice Neff will lead us for the next 7 days. Route info here.
  • Each morning there will be a pre-ride meeting to go over the day's itinerary and timing of gas and bathroom stops.
  • Please be efficient at the gas stops. We find that it's easiest to "buddy up" with one or two other bikes who share the same octane needs and swap costs back and forth for the trip.
  • The 2022 ride is a mixture of technical, sweeping curves, and country backroads. First time LRLR members are welcome, but this one is not recommended for brand-new riders. There will be optional routes available both for those who want to carve the curves and for those who want to have a gentle ride through the mountains.
  • All hotels are already booked and will be paid for with one AMEX card - you will be billed immediately after the ride for your part of the hotel expenses. Prompt repayment is expected, and a small fee will be charged if you pay by credit card.
  • Meal locations and times will be advised on gathering night and in each morning's pre-ride meeting. Cost of meals is the responsibility of each rider and passenger, although we do tend to get at least one sponsored lunch or dinner during the ride.
  • Any rooming preferences and dietary needs will need to be communicated in advance.
  • There will be zero tolerance for any alcohol or any more exotic intoxicants during the riding day. Save it for after hours.
  • There usually is a gathering in the evenings with cards, guitars and camaraderie. You are heartily invited to participate.
  • Anyone who overserves themselves during the evening will be made to ride behind Moe's bike with their hangover. He ain't nicknamed "Pipes" for nothing...
  • Speaking of alcohol, the Chase vehicles will generally keep the coolers full and chilled for the evenings. If you are so inclined to participate, please give the Chase drivers enough $ to cover your part. It's a pay-as-you-go system.
  • Speaking of Chase vehicles, they are providing a valuable service and are actually there in case of breakdown or accident or illness. They are not your valets. PLEASE - if you use one of the Chase vehicles for luggage, take care of it yourself, don't just drop your bag on the curb and expect it to be handled. Help pack and unpack.

Please note that all ride fees, just like all of the donations, go directly to either Behind the Scenes or Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, or both. It's your choice.

  • Checks should be made payable to the appropriate charity and should identify you as the rider being sponsored. Do NOT make checks payable to LRLR, we'll just have to send 'em back.
